Waihopai Valley community was still waiting to hear back from Marlborough Roads who have responsibility for road maintenance. Marlborough District Council assets and services manager Richard Coningham said sections of the road had deteriorated thanks to "very wet winter" and a "big increase" in logging trucks. "Up until now only temporary repairs have been able to be undertaken because of the wet weather, however work has begun on extensive repairs to the road. Additional drainage work is also being carried out to try and dry the existing wet pavement," he said.
"People driving the Waihopai Valley Road need to be aware that there is a number of temporary speed limits in place, there may be delays with the maintenance works, and there will be a lot of people working on the road."
