A woman who turned herself in and a couple living a "lifestyle choice" are among five Marlborough properties checked for hoarding last year.

Environmental officers from the Marlborough District Council visited three properties with reported "unsanitary living conditions" from last July, and made developments in two old hoarding cases.

Council environmental health technician Georgia Murrin said hoarding often involved unsanitary living, which was defined as having no water, no toilet or shower access, or signs of mould, vermin, flies or fleas.

Two new Marlborough bus services begin running this week.

The Blenheim to Renwick service and a new Blenheim commuter service provide greater transport options and complement the existing Blenheim to Picton and Blenheim bus services.

The Blenheim to Renwick service operates from Monday to Saturday, and runs four circuits on week days and two circuits on a Saturday. The new Blenheim commuter service operates Monday to Friday and provide two simultaneous services covering Maxwell Road, Redwoodtown, Witherlea and Taylor Pass Road.
