Major works in Hawke’s Bays
Drivers are asked to be patient while the works are being completed, and to check the NZTA and Hastings District Council websites for updates on the projects by heading to:
Major roadworks underway include: Hawke’s Bay Expressway Improvements, The SH2/2A/Watchman Road upgrade, Pakowhai Rd-SH50-Links Road Intersection, the Whakatu Arterial Link and Prebensen Drive-Hyderabad roundabout
A highlight is - State Highway 2 between Pakipaki and Waipukura: which includes a range of safety improvements are underway to reduce the crash risk on State Highway 2 between Pakipaki and Waipukurau. A further set of safety improvements has commenced on SH2 between Bay View and Wairoa.

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
