Free fire wood piles
Council is putting rings of firewood in three piles (one in Hastings, Flaxmere and Havelock North). Residents can help themselves but they need to take the rings home to chop up: No chainsaws or axes on the sites please. There won't always be wood there - it will be dropped off as it comes available. The three sites are: Flaxmere: Chatham Rd, by the gum trees; Havelock North: on the edge of Tainui Reserve, on Keirunga Rd; Hastings: Splash Planet car park; Grove Rd. Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
Do you think this ban is reasonable?
