Cockroaches and sparking power points: One woman's decade-long fight with EQC
A bucket lies ready for the next downpour of water and cockroaches.
Black mould emanates in every joint of kitchen vinyl flooring, while light switches and power points spark dangerously throughout the house when it rains.
It’s a living hell, but one Lisa Kelly has endured for a decade since the February 2011 earthquake. The Earthquake Commission (EQC) says while repairs to the whole roof may have been needed, only a small portion was exacerbated directly by the earthquake, and any quake-related damage had been addressed.
