Petition/Call for Action re Homelessness

Donna from Otaki District

Well folks, as promised when I said Watch This Space here is what has been organised for happenings around the Homeless in Kapiti-Otaki to do. Unfortunately, Rome was not built in a day so a lot of work has gone into these events. First up is the Petition/Call for action
* The Petition/Call For Action is now available in Otaki at Maoriland and will be available at the Otaki Library sometime today. Either myself or someone else will circulate to other places in Otaki and those places will be mentioned here where that will be. I will be circulating it in Paraparaumu Beach today and further places in Paraparaumu tomorrow. Waikanae will have places available for it later today. Places of interest where I would like to circulate it to are Paekakariki and all areas in Raumati and that will start from tomorrow also unless someone is keen to meet up with me and have the Petition/Call For Action available in their vicinity
* Put this date in your diary for the Hikoi to raise awareness of the critical situation of Homelessness. 4 December gathering in Paraparaumu Beach at 1.30 pm and setting off at 2.00 pm to the area between Kapiti Library and KCDC building. Did you know this area is called the Speakers Corner (further details coming later today or tomorrow)

* Available now is a survey to be completed anonymously at this link

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.

Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, we’re a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.

For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.

Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature — and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?

We hope this brings a smile!
