Hello neighbours,

My mum is moving to the area to be closer to her granddaughter. She is moving her 2 mini horses and her lovely old horse down with her. Does anyone know of or have any grazing available?
Near Waikanae would be the best!

Please get in touch if you do.

Thanks so much.

I had asked that others share their stories and experiences so a Facebook group has been started for these to be shared on. First you will need to request to join the group and answer three questions before admin will accept you in. This is done to keep the members safe and have their privacy kept. Once in the group it is asked that you read the Mission Statement, Privacy and Guidelines before any posts are made. There is the option of making an anonymous post to share your story or to post and admin will review it before accepting it. That is to keep out any abusive, nasty, bullying posts and comments. Members and posts cannot be seen by non-members to protect your privacy. Over lockdown Neighbourly is running stories on SPCA pets that have been successfully adopted. This week it is Zoe.

“The adoption has progressed really well with our little Zoe. Before we went to pick her up, I had a whole list of elegant princess type of names to rename her, but now that she has fully settled in, we have come to realise she is quite the opposite of that and more of a mischief cheeky troublemaker.
After a couple of weeks of slowly introducing each other, Zoe and her feline brother have gotten along a lot better than we anticipated. What she lacks in hearing she definitely makes up in with her voice and all the random noises she constantly makes. We bought her a large expensive cat tower and of course she much prefers to sleep and play around in a paper bag, so that has been fun being woken up at 3am with her rustling around in the bag.
Her new favourite area of the house is the bathroom where she loves to sit on the bath for hours and watch the water slowly drip out of the tap or go and rip up every single piece of toilet paper. She is constantly making us laugh and is so full of character and is loved by all our family and friends. Thanks so much for everything.”

A truck fire that damaged air conditioning units on their way to help in Wellington Hospital’s Covid-19 battle is being treated as suspicious.
The fire broke out shortly before midnight on Sunday in a truck parked on State Highway 1 in Ōtaki.
Ōtaki Volunteer Fire Brigade chief fire officer Ian King confirmed the fire was being treated as suspicious.
The truck driver had parked up about 7pm and checked into a motel. The fire did not start until almost five hours later.
It is understood the units would have allowed the hospital to have more negative pressure rooms – in which the air pressure is lowered, meaning the virus is less likely to escape into the wider hospital.
