REAL WORLD EMERGING OUT OF FICTON

Michael from Trentham

Years ago watched a movie depicting the near future where the nation's leader (President) and his henchmen and women were the great blatant liars for the vast majority of the population; there were cures for everything if one was wealthy and robots had taken over all the jobs that were chores for humans be it physical or mental.

The very next step was robot takeover - but that is another movie or two.

So with what one has seen of Trump since 2015, he is the first of the persistent leadership liars (over 65,000 lies inside 10 years) and has surrounded himself with other right wing liars, criminals, misinformation providers and thugs. Trump has also implanted dozens and dozens of billionaires and millionaires into his fold and at the helm of these are people who are the top money spinners in space, high tech and robotics like Musk, Zuckerberg and Bezos.

The rich get richer and the middle class and below get poorer and are expendable. And that has been happening to some extent for a number of years but is now accelerating.

Of course Hitler was a liar extraordinary and the world most dangerous person after Stalin. But Trump has set the stage for others to follow his foul antics not only in the USA but world-wide.

The year 2025 where all cancers can be cured, all body transplants can succeed and so on - for those wealthy enough to afford the costs.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.

Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, we’re a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.

For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.

Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature β€” and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?

We hope this brings a smile!

Poll: If we want to reduce speeding, what do you think actually changes driver behaviour? πŸ›»πŸš¨πŸš“

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

In the Post's article on speeding penalties, the question is asked whether speeding fines are truly about road safety, or are they just a way to boost revenue for the Crown?

What do you think? Should speeding motorists receive speeding fines or demerit points?
