Telephone dictation voting in the 2023 General Election

The Team from Electoral Commission

If you are blind, partially blind, or have a physical disability that means you cannot mark your voting paper without help, you can use the telephone dictation voting service.

You can use the telephone dictation voting service both from within New Zealand and if you’re overseas.

You do need to register to use this service though, before noon (NZ time) on Saturday 14 October.

You can find more information on our website here: vote.nz...

REWARD AND NO REWARD

Michael from Trentham

TV One has two regular sub programmes that rewards ndividual do-gooders with a $10,000 payment to do whatever with or simply pocket. The recipients also reap promotion and publicity for their particular charatible etc work. wanted or not. The other gives nothing but a spot on television and perhaps assitance of publicity and promotion.

In many programmes I have watched of the latter the difference between the money winners and the no-money winners is blurred beyond reason. I sit there thinking why didn't that person feature on the other programme and receive a sponsored cash reward?

Shame on TV One.

DEMOCRACY FALLOUT, FAILING

Michael from Trentham

One watches in horror as the democracy of the USA is all to quickly dismantling. The Supreme Court is the latest in a long line-up to go really rogue. After years of being tampered with politically.

Of course would-be dictator, corrupt and criminal villain Trump and Trumpism has opened up a festering wound that is probably too deep now to successfully patch up.

NZ has not got the American system of democracy thank goodness and has often been internationally ranked first or in the top three as the world's most democratic and least corrupt country in the world.
But there is cuttings at the edges of our democracy not the least displayed by the current Government. Examples are breaking election-gaining promises and even in the one they kept - tax cuts - by borrowing more than the defeated Labour-Green Govt has to cement in the financial shortfall of the tax reduction, and by going further in cutting out thousands of jobs in the public sector which also impacts on the private sector.
