What wonderful weather we are having today ☀️
As a reminder, it's standard public health advice around New Zealand not to swim for 48 following the kind of heavy rainfall we had this week. www.wellingtonwater.co.nz...

For those of you who have travelled within the country post-lockdown, we'd like to hear whether you've been able to find suitable flights, accommodation and activities within your budget. Do you think accommodation providers and tourism operators are doing enough to entice New Zealanders to explore their backyard? Governance volunteers matter...
Check out the blog I wrote for Volunteering New Zealand, about all the governance volunteers working behind the scenes in community organisations. We need to celebrate them and their work dedicated to keeping services running and communities and families intact.
A personal thank you to all the board members and governance volunteers that I have worked with across the country.
Contact me if you are part of a community organisation looking for some support for your governance team. I have mentoring and coaching spaces available now. Happy to chat to see how this support could work for you.

I just opened up Stuff and thought I had wandered in to some 1970's or 80's idea of a news home page. Obviously I really am not a fan. BTW if you click on any links the pages you go to are still in the previous format.

Upcycling is the term used for taking a preloved item and transforming it - whether it's for a new purpose altogether, or just to give it an ‘extreme makeover'. Consider using the school holidays to get Upcycling with the smaller members of your household - or use the next rainy day to drag out the paint and your creativity!
In the meantime, check out some of the creative cookies from last year.

In partnership with Wellington Children's Hospital & Wellington Hospitals Foundation, Recycling For Charity is running a mobile phone appeal to raise money for much needed medical equipment for the Children's Hospital.
So get those old/broken/going phones that have been put in the drawer and drop them off or send them in to us at the places listed in the photo.
We do ask that any iCloud / Knox / etc locks have been removed and a factory reset has been done before dropping the phone off. For more info please read the photo with this post.
Please share this with friends and neighbours as the Wellington Children's Hospital deal with children from approx New Plymouth and Hawkes Bay down to Wellington.
Thanks in advance

So to all our crews working on the frontline this winter, every day, in all kinds of weather, thanks for your hard work to keep our three waters flowing, our drinking water, stormwater and wastewater (including hot showers!). Your work is appreciated.

Before lockdown, I started putting together a donation of old Playstation games for the Wellington Regional Hospital Children's Wards. Now that we're moving around again, I can go and collect the games from those who had a couple to donate. Just leave a comment or send me a message. And sorry if I missed it pre-lockdown.
Basically, the hospital has a couple of well-used old Playstation 2s that are crying out for a few more games.
There is specifically a real need for new or pre-loved G and PG rated PS2 games and PS4 games. They have a couple of PS4s on trolleys and one in the teen room, but the controllers have wandered.
Alternatively, there is also a real need for portable DVD players and older (PG) movies if that’s something you’d be interested in donating.
I can pick up the games from your letterbox in Upper Hutt or whatever is easiest. I work near Hutt Hospital so I could meet you out front if you would rather drop them off in Lower Hutt - whatever suits just send me a message.
Kind regards
Jared
