Without doubt, a fourth Pfizer Covid jab is on the way for the population at large in NZ. And soon.

A variant (BA.2) of the Omicron variant of Covid is on its way. Already the highly contagious BA.2 has taken over as the current most significant of the Covid variants to affect the USA population with 51% of all new positive cases. Within the next week or two it will be officially decreed that it is necessary for all those aged over 50 or are immune compromised in the USA to get a fourth jab (or a second booster which is the same thing).

This is the new Covid wave we in NZ have been expecting.

A fourth jab will be recommended in the USA as soon as four months after the third jab has been reached.

So there are too many in NZ who are resisting a third jab and shortly we will have the majority of eligible people in NZ getting their 4th. On top of this, too many children aged 5-11 in NZ are not been vaccinated. It is like an ambulance trying to get through a traffic jam.

At the very least, updated vaccination passes will be relevant and indoor restrictions and masking retained or reintroduced.

Another attack on Parliament by peacemakers? Don't count it out.

Oscars 2022: Dune, Dune, Dune, Dune, Dune, Dune, The Power Of The Dog.

The Power Of The Dog with its strong NZ connection received 12 nominations but only finally got through on the night with best director for our celebrated Dame Jane Campion. One of the few major awards the movie Dune did not grab.

Campion gave a very good and thankfully mostly non-American type award speech. And her start with "Kia Ora, Aotearoa" was warming but why on earth did she mention Australia alongside NZ ?

A very good Oscars awards ceremony though Will Smith (a fav actor for me) was quite over the top. What was he on?

A massive slab of Toblerone is up for grabs to encourage corporates to support a raffle for the Wellington Children’s Hospital.
Hutt City Rotary Club president Gaylene Hughes says the raffle has the support of all the regions Rotary clubs and she is hoping to sell 12,000 tickets by May.
With Covid-19 rampant it is a hard time to sell a raffle, which has a first prize of a 2022 Kia Picanto valued at $23,000.
She hopes that corporates will get on board by buying large blocks of the remaining tickets and the Toblerone is being offered as an incentive. Corporates who buy tickets will go into a draw for the chocolate.

It’s an incredible piece infrastructure, and we can’t wait for you to experience it.

A heads-up, if you’re heading south don’t forget that Paekākāriki is the last exit for 15km – that’s a long detour if you miss your exit!

RAINBOW OVER WALLACEVILLE

Michael from Trentham

A mighty rainbow decorated the sky , north of where I live earlier today.

To me it appeared to start at the first row of developing dwellings that form part of the Wallaceville Estate's Urban Precinct, 180 metres from my house and across from Grant's Bush Reserve.
