Upper Hutt mayor Wayne Guppy will be chasing his eighth term in the October elections.
“There is a lot happening in Upper Hutt and I want to part of that process.”
Long-standing councillor Angela Mcleod, who lost in the last election by under 2000 votes, has previously said she will again be seeking the top job.
