Come and talk to us!

Upper Hutt City Council

We’re working through a review of our District Plan and are proposing some big changes for residential and rural development. It’s called Plan Change 50. We’re seeking your feedback on our draft proposals now.

Here’s a snapshot of some of the things we’re looking to do:

· Development of communal housing options, including Papakāinga.

· Prioritising outdoor living and open space within our urban areas.

We’re running public events at the Central Library, Silverstream School, Whirinaki Whare Taonga. Go to letskorero. upperhuttcity.com for dates and times.

To find out more, go to letskorero.upperhuttcity.com.

Feedback closes 30 August 2021.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
