Have you ever thought about running for local government? Nominations are now open for Upper Hutt Councillors and Mayoral candidates!
We know so many people in our community are passionate about bringing positive change to the city, and being an elected representative is one of the best ways to make yourself heard.
As an elected representative you’ll make big decisions in the best interests of our city and residents. You’ll be the voice for the individuals and organisations of Upper Hutt and be invested in their future.

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
