Got space for a couple of pet roosters? ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ“

Community Engagement Advisor from Greater Wellington Regional Council

Sadly when people donโ€™t have any need for roosters they do sometimes just dump them. Weโ€™ve had a call about a couple of roosters or chickens who have made their home at the roundabout at Riverstone Terraces.

Theyโ€™ve been there for a while and have a pretty good set up as some in the community are looking after them. However we canโ€™t really leave them there and do need to do something with them due to health and safety concerns. They look in pretty good shape but we do know the community is split about them being there.

Obviously we want to rehome them first, rather than have to humanly kill them, so if anyone could adopt them please do private message us urgently. Rather than just dumping these animals we hope that in the future people do try to rehome them themselves over social media or through animal groups in the first instance.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens arenโ€™t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days โ€” the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, whoโ€™s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
