Are you happy to fund freedom campers?
UPDATE: The council decided not to go ahead with funding for freedom campers in the next long-term plan.
The council was proposing to spend about $700,000 developing sites for freedom campers in Upper Hutt. That would cost each residential property about $2 more on their rates bill every year for 10 years.
The council says sites close to the CBD could help businesses with more money, and more people coming into the city.
