Ideas sought for Maidstone Community Sports Hub
Maidstone Park has been at the heart of the Upper Hutt community since 1908 and it is about to get a much needed upgrade.
Upper Hutt residents love their park and now they have the opportunity to have a say on an $18 million re-development.
The council received $12 million from the government as part of its "Shovel Ready " scheme to boost the economy and it also has an extra
$6 million allocated to the project.
During October and November, the council will be asking the community what it would like to see included in the Maidstone Community Sports Hub.
The aim is create a master plan by February 2021 and the council hopes to begin construction in March 2021.
The redevelopment will create a multi-purpose sports park, providing a focal point for recreation in the city. The vision is to create a mix of new and upgraded clubrooms, facilities and associated infrastructure, addressing the issue of ageing sporting infrastructure in Upper Hutt.
