What will we do while our library's closed?
The Upper Hutt Central Library has been closed immediately after it was found to be earthquake-prone.
Options for a temporary library site would not be discussed until the extent of the repair work was determined but could include storing books in a shipping container. As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
