Advertising online gambling

OK New Zealand, here's a reasonable question. Sensible answers invited...
Why is it that online gambling can be advertised on TV when other anti-social habits such as smoking and alcohol can't?
Gambling can be just as devastating to individuals, families and communities as the other 2, yet the advertising restrictions don't apply. Why is that?
Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
