Does anyone else get unwanted Ad Mail in their letterbox?

Ali from Stokes Valley

Hi guys,

I've recently been on a bit of tirade because for months now I have been receiving weekly junk mail in my letterbox, despite having two signs requesting No Junk Mail and No Ad Mail Please. This week I finally decided to do something about it.

It occurred to me that if it was happening to me then maybe others in the area were getting unwanted ad-mail too? Receiving unwanted mail is always slightly frustrating, but particularly so when you're trying to decrease the demand for paper mail and 'do your bit' for the planet. (One resident in Christchurch collected junk mail for a year and found it stacked up to around 7kg and was nearly two meters high!)

If you're experiencing this problem and want to do something about it then you can contact the Mailbox Helpline on 0800 111 081. It helps them to know what kind of junk mail is being delivered, so they can trace it back to the relevant contractor.

If you don't have a No Junk Mail / Circular / Ad-Mail sign but would like one, you can get a free sticker for your mailbox by making a request through letterboxer.org.nz or, if you simply prefer to get your ad-mail electronically you can use, ecomailbox.co.nz

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
