FREE trial at Trentham United Harrier and Walking Club

Richard from Pinehaven

If you enjoy running or walking why not come and join us on Thursday nights at 6pm from our club rooms in Trentham Memorial Park (Bartons Road Entrance). We have a few packs that head out around the local trails based on ability and there are regular stops to allow people to catch up and/or rest.

We are a friendly and social club that cater for a wide range of abilities and ages. Our members enjoy a wide range of disciplines including, trail running, half and full marathons, 5k and 10k races, mountain running, ultra marathons, adventure races, orienteering, traithlons and multi sport events, walking and of course, cross country (Harrier season). So no matter what your goals are you are more likely to succeed by talking and training with us and there is much more fun to be had in group training!

Feel free to get in touch with myself or the club directly and join us on a few of our runs completely free. If you decide to join, our social member fees are a little over a dollar a week and competitive members are around $3 per week, paid annually. Extremely good value and more affordable than the gym!

If you cant make Thursday nights we also train on Saturdays during Harrier season (April to September). We have some open days coming up on Saturday 31st March and 7th April at 1.15pm from our clubrooms.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.

Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, we’re a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.

For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.

Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature — and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?

We hope this brings a smile!
