We’ve had people enter Maymorn plantation forest during intensive harvesting operations despite the extensive signs and warnings. While anyone can make mistakes, this behaviour is deliberate and reckless.
A 48ha block of mature trees around Maymorn is being harvested and this will continue through to Christmas. GWRC and PF Olsen have done everything we can to ensure visitor safety and part-access to the forest during the harvesting. All the information is on our website – please use it to plan your trip. An invitation is extended to all business and community groups … View moreGet your vocal chords ready and start planning your wonderful float! The theme of the Upper Hutt 2018 Santa Parade is ‘Christmas Carols’. We'll be bringing sweet sounds to Main Street on Sunday 2 December at 3:00 pm.
An invitation is extended to all business and community groups operating in Upper Hutt to join this community event and enter a ‘Christmas Carols’-themed float in the parade. Think Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer rolling down the street, Snoopy’s Christmas flying in for a visit, or Jingle Bells rocking the block!
There is a $1,000 prize for the float that best reflects the theme of ‘Christmas Carols’ and a $250 prize for the People’s Choice Award, voted on social media in the week following the parade. Get creative and start planning your best Christmas Carols float idea and put it to your school, club or your boss to make it a reality!

At the Upper Hutt Animal Rescue Society, we have our first pregnant mum. Gadget isn’t even 10 months old and she will be giving birth to her kittens in a few weeks.

We are asking for donations of kitten food please so we can start stock piling for the rush. In particular kitten milk and biscuits. The other item we can never have enough of is kitty litter. We use the cheap kitty litter from the supermarkets.
You can drop your items at 4 King Charles Drive, Kingsley Heights. We are open 10:00am – 2:00pm weekdays, and 10:00am – 3:00pm weekends. We would love to say thank you personally.
