Section of Upper Hutt's rail line double tracked
The double-tracked section of rail line between Trentham and Upper is operational.
Double-tracking the rail line allows trains to travel in both directions at once, supporting a more efficient Wairarapa service and helping minimise delays.
This follows the opening of a new underpass at Trentham Station on 10 November which was blessed by Kaumātua Matiu Jennings at a dawn ceremony.
