Upper Hutt City Council update from CEO
The DomPost (on the 28th) featured an excellent run down of what was happening in the region. Our new council CEO Peter Kelly reported on highlights and the challenges ahead.
"Challenges over the coming years will include planning for growth, infrastructure and community resilience, environmental issues such as water and waste management, improved public transport, and building an efficient state and provincial highway network."
Many of these issues have been addressed by the council candidates who have attended public meetings and these are the issues your new council members will be fced with.
Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
