Friendly Forum with Tim Macindoe MP - Friday 19 June 2020
It is a privilege to represent you in Parliament, and as your local MP I am always keen to hear your views and ideas.
As you may know I regularly host Friendly Forums in the South Waikato and other parts of the electorate. This provides me with an opportunity to meet with you face to face, to hear your thoughts and concerns, and to share information on matters of interest.
Unfortunately my father passed away over the weekend which means that I am unable to be at the Friendly Forum myself this week. My fantastic colleague Tim Macindoe, MP for Hamilton West, has kindly offered to fill in on my behalf. I'm sorry I can't be there in person to catch up with you!
Nevertheless I would like to invite you to the next forum in Putaruru.
Date: Friday 19 June 2020
Time: 10.00am – 11.30am
Venue: The Plaza, 50 Kensington Street, Putaruru
RSVP: Angie Hendricks on (07) 886 5554 or upston.sthwaikato@parliament.govt.nz or by clicking on the following link:

Sincerely
Louise Upston
Member of Parliament for Taupō

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
-
59.4% Yes, supporting people is important!
-
26.3% No, individuals should take responsibility
-
14.3% ... It is complicated

Wild weather in the Waikato
The Waikato really copped it over the weekend, with wild weather leaving a hefty clean-up bill that may run into the millions.
While things are looking calmer in the days ahead, there are still plenty of slips and flooded roads across the district — so if you’re heading out, take it easy and stay alert.
We want to know: How did you and your whānau get on over the weekend?
