Ngāti Rēhia's creation of a kauri sanctuary on ancestral lands at Takou Bay has been given a boost with $6.25m funding from the One Billion Trees project. The kauri sanctuary will help protect the iconic species - which grows to 2000 years old like Tāne-Mahuta - from kauri dieback disease. What do you think?

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
