Online banking scam hits Northland
ANZ bank is warning customers to be vigilant after claims several Kerikeri residents have fallen victim to a "slick and convincing" online banking scam.
NZ Police Cybercrime Unit Detective Sergeant Damian Rapira-Davies said it was a variation on previous scams seen by police, where the scammers claim to be from a widely recognised organisation in order to gain the victim's trust. Rapira-Davies advised people not to engage with anyone on the phone if you think you are being scammed. "Hang up immediately and report the incident."
