This award recognises outstanding commitment and continued success amongst former Project K graduates who have left school and continued on the values of Project K into their career and lives.
The judges said, "Ayla continues to astound all those who meet her. Her ability to overcome her childhood and not only become a wonderful human being and mother but also contribute significantly over a number of years to those in need is extraordinary. She is on her way to being one of the great New Zealanders."
