Matakana Island blocked off to visitors
Visitors to Matakana Island were greeted with piles of a barbed wire and a sign saying "Bugga Off!" this morning.
Kewpie Cruise owner Brandon Stone said the one of his vessels discovered the debris this morning, supposedly marking a tribal boundary, and cancelled their trip to the island.
Stone says it is the latest act of aggression against his tour business from a few "bad apples" on the island. He says racist remarks have been shouted at people on board his vessel.
