council rates increase fund raising to pay for the extra cost in our rates.
Hi, as a superannuation person who will struggle to fill any of the bins we will be provided with, and i will also not find it easy to pay the extra cost, i suggest those who are interested to join me in sitting on a deck chair with a sign that reads "Help me pay my rates please, any donation will be gratefully accepted". We could sit outside various places and see what we can get. We can then share it amongst those of us who will need it. If anyone is interested, can you pm me please.

Staying home over the break?
The long weekend is the perfect time to make your place safer for an earthquake with these steps:
• Find out where you can turn off your water and gas mains
• Check your chimney for any signs of wear and tear, or damage
• Check your home's foundations are secured
• Move heavy items that are up high to safer, lower down locations.
• Secure tall and heavy furniture and appliances
These simple actions can keep your whānau safer in case of a big shake, so tick them off and make the most of your break.
