Have your say on the draft Dangerous Buildings Policy
We rely on external sources to inform us of dangerous and insanitary buildings – so we depend on occupants, neighbours, Fire and Emergency, Police etc. to contact us with any concerns. Why? We think using complaints – as opposed to sending staff to inspect each building/house in the city on a regular basis – is the most efficient use of resources. Have we got this right? As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
