Water Rates Price

Valona from Papamoa Beach

Thanks for all the replies to my previous post.
I'm surprised to see its not just me. Most of us seem to have the same problem, new meter gives between three and four times the previous charge. My last bill is $164 (May last year was $24. I believe you'll all get the same reply ie. the new meter is accurate and the old one wasn't so you were undercharged. Its hard to argue with this if they deal with us one by one. If it is true, then it seems to me that the water rate itself must be hugely inflated and as they roll out the new meters the council will be collecting much more revenue than they did previously. What do you think, Is it worth getting together to ask for a revue of the water rate and some transparency on the income generated? I am certainly not happy.
I will post this again to see if any more replies come in and would really welcome your comments and anything you hear from council.

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.

This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.

Do you think this ban is reasonable?

Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.

When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
