The Anglican Parish of Gate Pā and the Tauranga Moana (Anglican) Maori Mission invite you to a short service at St.

Georges Anglican Church to commemorate the Battle of Gate Pa and to honour all those who fought and died in this tragic event at St. Georges Anglican Church, 1 Church Street, Gate Pa.

The service will start at 4pm on April 29th, when the British forces began their march up Pukehinahina. We will hear an account of the battle and then have a time of silent reflection with images playing. At 4.30 the bell will be rung 60 times to remember the approximately 60 men who lost their lives in the battle. We will finish with prayers/karakia for the future of our city. This year we have invited Deputy Mayor Kelvin Clout to speak about the significance of this battle for us as a city, and what might happen in the future to acknowledge our history.
Refreshments will be served after the service.

We are offering this as one thing that will happen on this day. We would really like to hear of other events that might happen. Our facilities are available if you have other ideas about what might be able to be held.

I would be really grateful if you could advertise this in your networks. I have a poster for this years' service if you want a copy.

Because St. Georges Church sits on the site of the Battle of Gate Pā we feel a sense of responsibility for holding the story of both the battles and the aftermath with integrity, and to offer ways the people can hear about, engage with and reflect upon these stories and what they mean for us living in Tauranga Moana.

2014 saw huge gatherings commemorate the 150th anniversary of the battles of Gate Pā and Te Ranga with some very significant events held on the actual days of the battles. It continues to be our hope that these would be the beginning of some ongoing events for the people of this city to engage with the story of the New Zealand Land Wars and our colonial past and how these shape present day New Zealand society. We offer this simple service as a contribution to this ongoing commemoration. It may be that other groups will offer other events as well.

Discover your rights with the CAB!

Sacha Green from Citizens Advice Bureau New Zealand

Do you know what your rights are at work? How about your rights to do with renting or owning a home? If you buy something that’s faulty do you know what your options are? This CAB Awareness Week from 8-14 April you’re being invited to Discover Your Rights – Tūhuratia ō motika!

Helping people to know what their rights and responsibilities are and how they can act on these is core to what the Citizens Advice Bureau is about. We help people from all walks of life to access the information they need so they are empowered to take next steps and to resolve their problems.

A highlight of this year’s Awareness Week is the launch of the CAB’s new public website - www.cab.org.nz.... After a year of development and user testing, the resulting website provides an accessible, mobile-friendly, knowledgebase of 2,000 questions and answers about people’s rights that are based on real issues confronted by clients.

The information about rights is grounded in the law but is practical and is expressed in a way that’s easy to understand.

The website also provides a directory of more than 30,000 community organisations so that the CAB can help connect people with any additional services they need.

We’re keen to break down any barriers people face in finding out what their rights are. Our new website is a fantastic resource for the whole community, and complements the amazing face-to-face and phone service provided by our skilled and dedicated volunteers.

We invite you to Discover Your Rights with us this Awareness Week by checking out our new website www.cab.org.nz..., calling us 0800 367 222, or by visiting your local CAB. We’re here to help.

Unfortunately the silica/water staining could not be completely removed from all area's of the glass after 5 hours effort! The Owner did mention the silica is that bad in the area it had blocked several ports of the shower rose recently and so had to be unblocked.
We definitely made a big improvement, 90 to 95% and at least now the shower is not getting noticed for all the wrong reasons, so this Home owner was very pleased with the result.
Like I have said earlier, it is best that if you do install a new shower or have a new house build, definitely get your shower glass protected by ClearShield. Left unprotected the glass will eventually become tired, loss clarity and look unhygienic and it is expensive to renovate.
