Changes to opening hours at Tauranga Blood Donor Centre

Jodie Houltram from New Zealand Blood Service

To all of our regular blood donors, and our new donors that we haven’t met yet…
We wanted to let you know about some changes to the opening hours at our Tauranga Donor Centre.
The Donor Centre will no longer be open for regular whole blood donations from 4pm on Thursdays.
The reason for this change is to enable us to meet the increasing demand across New Zealand for blood products made from plasma. A single plasma donation can be made into 13 lifesaving blood products.
To ensure we can continue to meet demand, we have decided to allocate Thursday evenings to plasma-only donors.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.
However, to accommodate more appointment times, we are starting a regular mobile blood drive for whole blood at St Peter’s Church across the road. We do hope you can continue to donate with us and look forward to seeing you at your next donation.

We thank you so much for your donations and for your understanding of this change.

Regards,
Team at New Zealand Blood Service Tauranga Donor Centre
