Anglican Parish of Gate Pa has organised a great night of stories, cooking demonstrations, song and laughter with Tauranga identities Stephen and Tommy (Kapai) Wilson - two brothers committed to helping the homeless and unemployed in Tauranga.
Tommy Kapai Wilson is the Executive Director of Te Tuinga Whanau Support Services – and organisation focussing on the wellness of families. Labelling himself a tāngata moemoeā (a professional dreamer), Tommy believes passionately in humour as a learning tool for children of all ages. One of a family of 11, he left home at 16 to travel the world for 25 years. At different times in his life he has worked as a private butler to the rich and famous, a writer of children’s books and describes his current role as Chief Imagination Officer. For Wilson, ‘humour and history are the two most powerful weapons on the planet’.
Stephen Wilson a French Maori chef who also travelled the world. For 25years he learnt from the masters of cuisine in Paris. He now shares that experience and gift with the families who have come to Te Tuinga Whanau for help.
Both he and Tommy realised that in order for Te Tuinga Trust to be a self-sustaining not for profit organisation they needed to create a revenue stream to meet the demands of their ever growing client base. So a year ago the Happy Puku food truck and catering business was born. Stephen is the manager and caters for events big and small with all funds going back to the Te Tuinga Whanau to fund the families they look after. He also facilitates cooking lessons, teaching families how to make affordable and healthy food.
The philosophy behind the Happy Puku is people learning to help themselves, help others and learn a business. At present the Happy Puku has eight employees who are mums from families that are being assisted by Te Tuinga Whanau.
The event Eat.Laugh.Love is on Friday 15th March at St. Georges Anglican Church Hall in Gate Pa. The doors open at 6.30pm. Stephen and Tommy will be telling stories, singing and cooking. Complimentary drinks will be served and supper is provided by the Happy Puku. Tickets are $45 per person and are available from the church office 9-12 Monday to Friday, or from Eventfinda.

But KidsCan is helping. Since October they've been delivering five fresh meals a week to 25 early childhood centres, and kitting out kids with new raincoats and shoes. They want to extend the programme, so no one misses out on learning.
KidsCan, Neighbourly and Stuff have partnered up to raise enough money to feed and clothe 1000 more children under five. To support a child, sign up at KidsCan.org.nz.

We believe this law adversely affects those in a permanent relationship with a person who has an overseas pension; that a couple is not treated as individuals but as an 'economic unit', with the New Zealander then finding they lose most, if not all, of their superannuation which is an 'individual entitlement'. This form of means testing can cause not just a monetary loss but a loss of independence. This puts a strain on relationships and affects people's emotional and physical health.

With early intervention, less glass corrosion has occurred, yes, just like most building materials, glass gets attacked by the elements and damage occurs.
This is mostly due to glass not being a flat surface but has pores, so lost glass clarity is unavoidable, so ClearShield glass protection is a must. ClearShield seals the pores of the glass and stops any future glass corrosion. Also the glass clarity/sparkle of new glass is retained with little effort, 5 to 10 minutes cleaning/week.
