Mr G’s final ‘HOME’ artwork “Kotahitanga” embodies the essence of Waitangi Day

University of Waikato - Tauranga

"Kotahitanga is a word that gets used so flippantly these days and I really don't want it to lose the power and mana that the word carries." - Mr G, speaking at the mural presentation of his latest artwork.

Thanks to the staff, students, friends and whānau who joined us today for the unveiling of Mr G's mural, "Kotahitanga", to Matua Tamati for the karakia. Mihi to Jake Angus for presenting our koha to Mr and Mrs G too

We can't wait for Trimester A to begin to see the reaction of our tauira and wider campus community, when they engage with this incredible piece.

Mr G, of all the 'canvasses' in Tauranga Moana, thank you for choosing ours. We have enjoyed having you and Milly on campus and look forward to seeing you both again.

Tauranga City Council, mihi to Gareth and Reena, thank you for your support and the partnership that has seen this final piece of the 'HOME' exhibition come to fruition.

And finally, thank you Joseph Macfarlane and Marcelle Wharerau for all your mahi in making this happen.

Come and check out the mural whenever you're around our CBD Campus!

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
