Hit and run and hide accident.

Clementine from Welcome Bay

Last Sunday afternoon our car was rear-ended by a middle aged man driving a older white station wagon at one of the roundabouts by Baypark in Mount Maunganui. My daughter was the driver and she was waiting for an opening in traffic to turn onto Mount Maunganui Road when he plowed into the back of our car. After stopping to check damage, he informed her he was not insured, got into his car and drove off. Both police and our insurance company cannot find the car and say the number plate does not exist and cannot find the driver or car. Therefore the insurance company cannot hold him liable and make him pay, making us liable for the first $500.00 of repairs.
CarJam shows the number plate does exist but is out of circulation.
This is the number plate: CUL236. It is on an older white station wagon driven by a man in his mid forties or so. We suspect he is a local. We would like to find him and report him. Everything is wrong about him, his car and attitude.
If anyone knows this man and car and where to find him PLEASE let me know.
Thank you.

Update: We went to the police station yesterday after finding out The number plate isa stolen one, stolen in Wellington but 'around' the Mount Maunganui area. Police very much want to find both car and driver. It is now a criminal investigation.

Robots are stepping into repetitive roles in factories, plants and warehouses. AI is taking care of the admin tasks that once filled many mid-level office jobs.

We want to know: As the world evolves, what skills do you think give a CV the ultimate edge in a robot-filled workplace?

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
