This is not enforced by the police, and council staff do not have the power to issue infringements or forcibly remove individuals who are breaching the bylaw without a Court order. Council is proposing to remove the provisions from the bylaw as it considers a bylaw is not the most appropriate way of addressing the perceived problem in relation to begging and rough sleeping in Tauranga. The Road to Bethlehem is on in 2 weeks! It runs from the 15th-18th of December, from 6:30pm till approximately 9 each evening.
This awesome FREE Christmas event is a live theatre show where you actually walk through each scene of the Nativity Bible story - the Marketplace - Herod's Palace - the Shepherds' Camp - the Inn - and the stable where Baby Jesus was born - this is an amazing experience and not to be missed this Christmas. There is plenty to do in the Waiting Area - arrive a little early and have a light dinner or snack, enjoy some music, or do an activity with the kids.
Tickets for the earlier sessions are filling fast, so if you have kids, get in now. If you don't mind being up a little later, you'll get the full benefit of the night lighting in the scenes. You are guided through the experience by actors, and it takes about 45mins. Much more memorable than a movie!! ;)
