What do you think of the choice of our new deputy mayor?

Hi neighbours,
In a departure from recent tradition, third term Taupō District Mayor David Trewavas has opted not to make the highest polling councillor his deputy.
Rather than Kathy Guy, he has instead appointed mayoral rival councillor Christine Rankin as his understudy.

So what do you think? Should the mayor choose the highest polling candidate or go with who he feels is the best choice?
