Poll: Are your eager to find out who this years candiates will be?

Nicola Brennan-Tupara Reporter from Taupō Times

Hi neighbours,
It appears that candidates in this year's local body elections are in no rush with their paperwork.
As of Thursday morning only one mayoral candidate and five Taupō ward candidates had officially put their names forward - seven spots are available in the Taupō ward.
The Lakes DHB slate was clean as were spots in the three other wards for the district council and the community board positions. Nominations close on August 16.

So that got us thinking, are you eager to find out who is going to be vying for you votes?

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
