Expressions of interest sought from market operators
Taupō District Council is to seek expressions of interest from parties interested in running a market in Taupō after the current lease expires at the end of the year.
The lease for the current market at Riverside Park expires on December 31 and the council has identified Northcroft Domain as its preferred location for a future farmers and craft market. However, proposals or alternative sites will also be considered to ensure the ‘best fit’ for the district, and the council is also keen to hear of alternative or unique ideas on how the market could be successful.
Mayor David Trewavas said the Taupō market was an important part of the social fabric of the community. “We absolutely see value in having a market and we are excited to see what proposals come forward,” he said.
Calls for expressions of interest are sought from anyone interested in organising and/or managing a vibrant market environment for all the community.
