For many years, Lake Taupō has been inching closer to this small community.
What started as a gradual, insidious process – around half a metre of land falling into the lake yearly – has escalated. In the last two years, those nibbles have become bites, and Kuratau has lost large chunks of the foreshore.
Have you spotted this, or do you know of other areas where it's happening?
