Lake Terrace now open
Lake Terrace is now open to all traffic, following three months of major infrastructure repairs as a result of a washout event in July.
The work has involved complex design challenges with the installation of over 300 metres of watermain pipes as well as new stormwater and sewer systems. A new nine metre high retaining wall has also been built.
Chief executive Gareth Green said the project had been a mammoth task.
“We wouldn’t have been able to achieve this without the help of the community. Thank you for your patience as we have worked to not only reinstate the road, but better future-proof the area.
“Not only have we moved the sewer and watermain further away from the lake, we have also installed a new stormwater separator that will help to remove more pollutants entering our stormwater.
“Of course, we also need to acknowledge the businesses who have been affected over this time. Thank you for your support and understanding as we have worked hard to get this area back up and running.”

Whether it’s a courgette takeover or a feijoa frenzy, don’t let those garden gems go to waste!
Our suggestion to you: Did you know you can grate and freeze excess courgettes to use in chocolate cake later? It sounds a bit dodgy, but it makes the cake incredibly moist ... and hey, it counts as a serving of veg, right? 🍫
