Road closures for IRONMAN New Zealand events
Here's a heads-up on the road closures that will be in place around Taupo for IRONMAN New Zealand events over the next few days!
> Thursday 6pm to Friday 8.30am: Tongariro Street, from Tamamutu Street to Heuheu Street.
> Friday 8.30am to 10.30am: Tongariro Street, from Spa Road to Lake Terrace, and Lake Terrace, from Tongariro Street to Kaimanawa Street.
> Saturday 2am to Sunday 2am: The big event kicks off at the crack of dawn on Saturday and with that there will be various road closures and detours in place around the Taupo CBD, as shown on the map. Expect delays if you're travelling through town during this time.
> Saturday 6.30am to 4pm: Broadlands Road, from Centennial drive to Taupo District Boundary, and Centennial Drive, from Rakaunui Road to Broadlands Road.
> Saturday 8am to 12am (midnight): Heeni Street, from Warewaka Road to Secombe Park Reserve Access Road, and Rainbow Drive, from Charles Crescent (northern end) to Aubrey Crescent (southern end). Residents access only.
Over the next few days please take extra care on the roads and keep an eye out for all the amazing athletes out cycling and running.

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
