Should more supermarkets offer "quiet hours"?

Reporter Taupō Times

Countdown will offer low-sensory quiet hours in its stores nationwide. These hours are intended to help families with children who are sensitive to surroundings, particularly those with autism.

On this dark, cloudy, rainy day, i thought it appropriate to expand on one of the key issues that I stand for: better communication between Council and our community. Clear away the clouds.
Quality information needs to be more accessible and effective two-way communication between Council and our community actually needs to happen.
* generic responses are simply not good enough if our community has taken the time to research, participate in consultation or present to council.
* get Q&A documents out for all major issues affecting our district and make these easily accessible - we shouldn't have to spend hours online trying to find information.
* communicate constantly and at the right time.
The existing breakdown in communication between Council and our community needs to change urgently. We live in a special place, and we all have a right to be better informed on issues and decisions that affect our home.

When some current regional councillors state “I aways vote to keep rates rises at or below the CPI” it could be argued that they’re being somewhat economical with the truth.

Indisputable Fact = By keeping rates deliberately and artificially low by way of running significant deficit budgets ($ 7 million this financial year) you are simply operating under fiscally unsound policies as well as being socially irresponsible. All you are doing is shifting the financial onus and burden onto future ratepayers without actually addressing the real issues which caused the deficit in the first instance.

The National Party is considering a policy of fining parents $3000 if their children drop out of school and don't enter further education or training.

Simon Bridges says "The reality is if you're not in work, education or training, you're going to be languishing in a dole queue, and the evidence is potentially for a long time". Do you agree with this policy? Should parents be fined?
