New Year's Day litter pick-up
We all love living and visiting our district so why not take the opportunity on New Year’s Day to get together with friends and continue to look after the place we love?
A litter pick-up event is organised for January 1 between 8am and 10am at the Lakefront Reserve (opposite Taupō Mini Golf).
You are welcome to show up at anytime through until 10am and stay for as little or as long as you want. Everything is provided (although gumboots may be a good idea for areas where water level is high).
Come along, keep our lakefront looking great and treat yourself at the end with pancakes fresh of the griddle!

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
