Elections, Hi I'm Bernhard Chrustowski

Bernhard from South Taupo

In my early years I started and operated a Wellington business for ten years with proven financial stewardship skills that allowed me to retire early to Taupo.

Since then I have served as a Taupo District Councillor for 2 terms and became a certified Resource Management Act Commissioner adjudicating on hearings within the Taupo District with a priority for positive environmental outcomes.

My grandchildren attend Waipahihi School where I also serve on the Board of Trustees.
I’m a dedicated volunteer and a fully qualified Cycle Skills instructor. I teach young school children throughout the district, including Turangi, Kuratau and Mangakino on how to ride bicycles and then when they are older on how to be safe while riding on our roads.
My main priorities are: Tackling climate change

Safeguarding and future proofing our fresh water supply, rivers, lakes, and catchments as well as supporting land owners in their efforts to improve water quality.

Supporting the predator free 2050 initiative and the protection of regional native fauna and biodiversity.

Building a resilient regional eco-friendly economy by operating fiscally sound and socially responsible budgets.

Minimising non-recyclable plastics with improved waste management along with increased awareness of commercial responsibility.

Encouraging new technology for recycling used-tyres into new roading infrastructure.

Upgrading infrastructure for increased usage of electric and hydrogen powered vehicles, and safe cycling amenities for recreation and commuting.

Lastly, I’m seeking your endorsement to allow me to serve as your Regional Councillor and become part of the solutions by contributing and influencing the future in a positive and sustainable way.

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.

This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.

Do you think this ban is reasonable?

Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.

When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
