Our first event is with the Timebank Community Market Saturday 22nd of March 25 and then again the following Saturday 29th of March with the Repair Cafe at the Same venue. 250 Spa Road.

One person who the organisation supports is Matthew Sloane (pictured above), someone who, in his dad David’s words, “spreads joy.”
“Matthew is an incredibly cheerful, friendly person, and that friendliness is contagious,” said David.
The 31-year-old has a learning disability and has been supported by CCS Disability Action’s Waikato branch for around 10 years. He is also employed as a caretaker at the local branch, work he enjoys.
Matthew has a small team of Support Workers who spend time with him each weekday morning and help him to live independently. Every day holds something different. As well as working at CCS Disability Action, he enjoys a regular cycling session and connecting with friends.

Police typically see a rise in dishonesty offending across the country over the summer months as the weather warms up, however we have noticed a slightly higher increase in the Swarbrick area.
Thieves are lazy and will look for easy opportunities to steal.
There are some basic prevention steps you can take to help reduce the chance of your property or vehicle being targeted, and if they are targeted increase the chance of those involved being identified.
🔒Take valuable items and important documents out of your vehicle.
🔒Always lock your vehicle, and park in your garage, up a driveway, or in a well-lit area.
🔒Consider installing security cameras.
🔒Get packages delivered to a place where someone will be home to receive them, or to a work address.
🔒If you do have deliveries made to your home, make sure you're going to be home, or have a secure location where they can be left.
🔒Be smart when disposing of packaging, so passers-by can’t see if you've been buying expensive items.
🔒Ensure you have your packages delivered to a secure location like your workplace, the rear of your property, or select a time you will be at home for delivery.
We want to remind people to tell us if they’ve been targeted by criminals or suspicious activity. It’s not uncommon for thieves to work their way across neighbourhoods. Call 111 if you see suspicious behaviour happening now – please don’t wait for a crime to be committed. The faster you tell us, the faster we can act.

We are seeing a significant increase in reporting of ‘Hi Mum’ scams.
A ‘Hi Mum’ scam is a scam where a random message from an unknown number is sent to you claiming to be from a close relative, usually your son or daughter.
The fake relative often claims their phone is broken – which is why they’re contacting you from a different number – and will ask you to do something, sometimes asking you to help them with a payment or to do something by clicking a link.
If you receive one of these, don’t click the links. Try to contact your relative using their normal number which is probably still working.
You can also report these scam messages by forwarding free to Department of Internal Affairs on 7726
