Has anybody noticed the shocking state of local roads in Papakura.??
In particular i am talking about the intersection of Hunua Road & settlement especially turning left out of Hunua Road, ( It is so badly cut up and has been for a long time ) I fear it wont be long before serious damage is done to either my car or more importantly the tyres on my car.
There are further pit holes as you drive down Hunua Road mainly caused ( i suspect ) by the huge number of trucks that use this road. Considering the amount of road tax's that trucking firms pay and the increased petrol tax that normal motorists are paying for the care and construction of roads, WHEN are we going to see the council spending some of this revenue to urgently fix up the many roads around the Papakura area that have fallen way behind in being maintained to a safe level for motorists. It seems they are more interested in looking after cyclists ( who pay no user tax's ) than they are of looking after motorist's who DO pay high tax's to ensure we have good quality and well maintained roads to drive on.
Come on Auckland council, ( and our local councillors ) wake your idea's up and go for a drive around our streets to see just how bad some of our roads are. It's not all about cycleways you know..

Hi
We recently visited Totara Park with our dog and came home with him covered in disgusting ticks. We have been walking in the park for 3 years and have never had this problem so we revisited the park a few days later and sure enough discovered more ticks.

The park itself is home to cows who spread these pests and have also apparently chased a few people recently. There are signs up in the park regarding the cows which have been defaced by residents with things such as "land destroyers" and "polluters".
The last time we visited, the cows had blocked the walking track so we tried to go around only to discover that the ground had been ruined to the point you couldn't walk for fear you'd break your ankle so we had to walk on the street, we may as well have walked around our own street.

Honestly i am getting a little bit sick of seeing the "farms in parks" scheme as it ruins the experience, spreads pests and is just another way to drum up money for the council all while ruining the parks that taxes go towards. When paying dog rego some of the money is said to go towards dog parks, but when you cant use them because cows are given preference under the guise of it being good for children, it really grinds my gears.
I have written the council regarding the ticks and of course, nothing back.

Just wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences.

Thanks
