Incentives for landowners as significant natural areas identified in Waimakariri district
Significant natural areas (SNA) are areas of vegetation that have high biodiversity values and are important for preventing the extinction of rare species and ecosystems.
Councils are required to identify and protect them under the Resource Management Act (RMA).
Full details of the rules and incentives around SNAs will be publicly available when Waimakariri's proposed district plan is notified later this year. Find out more at waimakariri.govt.nz/sna
Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?
An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.
When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
